Corrosion Resistance:
INCONEL 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron based solid solution strengthened alloy with good resistance to high temperature corrosion (acid and alkali resistance) and oxidation, excellent hot and cold working and welding process properties, satisfactory thermal strength and high plasticity below 700°C. The alloy is designed for low temperature to 1093°C environments. The oxidation resistance at high temperatures is extremely good, with good oxidation resistance and carbonation stability at 1093°C (but in a reducing atmosphere containing hydrogen sulphide it has an upper limit of 535°C). It is very effective in the handling of hydrogen chloride and chlorine at high temperatures; hydrogen chloride up to approx. 538°C and chlorine up to 510°C can be used safely. The alloy also has excellent corrosion resistance to nitrogen, hydrogen and carburisation and is therefore used in various heat treatment furnaces.
Application:
Retort furnaces, muffle furnaces and heat treatment jigs and baskets, vacuum furnace installations, chlorination plants with a maximum operating temperature of 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, titanium dioxide plants, retort furnaces, heaters, stills, blister towers and condensers in fatty acid processes, evaporator tubes, tube plates and press trays in sodium sulphide manufacturing processes, rosin acid treatment plants in pulp manufacturing, etc.
Matching Welding Consumables:
AWS A5.14 wire ERNiCr-3 or AWS A5.11 electrode ENiCrFe-3 is recommended for the welding of Inconel 600 alloys.
Supply Style:
Plate, strip, bar, wire, forging, light bar, welding material, flange, etc., can be processed according to the drawing
