Corrosion Resistance:
Al-6XN (UNS N08367) is classified as a super austenitic stainless steel, renowned for its remarkable resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion caused by chloride ions. This alloy, recognized for its corrosion-resistant properties and favorable cost performance, demonstrates a substantial improvement in corrosion resistance compared to 316L. Furthermore, its resistance levels are comparable to those of other nickel-based alloys designed for corrosion resistance, such as C-276, providing a notable economic advantage. The alloy's significant nitrogen content contributes to a higher tensile strength than that found in traditional austenitic stainless steels (such as 304, 316, and 317), all while preserving excellent toughness and impact strength. Typical operating conditions for Al-6XN include exposure to 60% sulfuric acid at temperatures below 80°C, with an annual corrosion rate of less than 0.1 mm.
Application:
Chemical vessels and pipelines, offshore oil and gas platforms, condensers interacting with seawater or crude oil, heat exchangers and piping systems, filter presses, storage tanks, and pressure rollers utilized in the pulp bleaching process, flue gas desulfurization systems (FGD) in thermal power stations, steel manufacturing facilities, petrochemical industries, crude oil distillation columns and packaging, desalination systems and pumps, servo water piping arrangements in nuclear power facilities, transformer enclosures subjected to marine conditions, pharmaceutical apparatus (ensuring the purity of medications), and equipment for food production.
Matching Welding Consumables:
AWS A5.14 wire ERNiCrMo-3 or AWS A5.11 electrode ENiCrMo-3 is recommended for welding of Al-6XN stainless steel
Supply Style:
Plate, strip, bar, wire, forgings, light bars, welding consumables, flanges, etc., as per the drawing
